AAA Colorado Announces Prestigious Diamond Restaurant List for 2016

DENVER, February 5 – Continuing an 80-year tradition, AAA has announced its 2016 Five and Four Diamond rated restaurants.

The Penrose Room, Colorado Springs, continues its reign as Colorado’s only Five Diamond rated restaurant. Only 64 restaurants in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean have earned the AAA/CAA Five Diamond Rating in the past 12 months. This exclusive group represents just 0.2 percent of the more than 30,000 AAA/CAA Approved and Diamond Rated restaurants.

The Penrose Room, located at the top of the Five Diamond rated Broadmoor Hotel and overlooking the resort grounds, features contemporary European cuisine inspired by the season. At the Penrose Room’s Five Diamond level, one can expect a broad sensory-based experience including flavor, visual appeal, aroma and texture along with personalized service and ambient, ultra-comfortable surroundings designed to engage and impress even the most experienced patron.

“Penrose Room has long been known as the premier dining destination in Colorado and this recognition from AAA reinforces that reputation of culinary and service excellence that is the pinnacle of what we strive for”, says C. W. Craig Reed Director of Food and Beverage for The Broadmoor.

Colorado has 19 Four Diamond rated restaurants for 2016. Four Diamond restaurants account for just 2.3 percent of Diamond Rated restaurants.

Guard and Grace, in Denver, is new to Colorado’s Four Diamond Restaurant list this year. This modern steakhouse offers prime steaks, fresh seafood and a floor-to-high-ceiling glassed wine cellar and exemplifies the stylish physical attributes, extensive amenities, degree of hospitality and attention to detail that define a Four Diamond rated restaurant.

“I am honored to have Guard and Grace selected as an AAA Four-Diamond rated restaurant in Colorado”, says Chef/Owner Troy Guard . “Since opening our first modern American steakhouse, we aimed to bring our guests world-class service and hospitality, along with the highest quality food and wine. We are grateful for the acclaim we’ve received thus far and look forward to continuing this exciting journey.”

Candidates for AAA Diamond rating undergo multiple unannounced evaluations and a final decision by a panel of experts. Using guidelines weighted by member priorities, inspectors meticulously evaluate food quality, guest services and physical attributes to assess the level of competence, refinement and hospitality.
