AAA Colorado Extends Five Diamond Honor to Three Hotels and One Restaurant for 2014
Denver, January 17–AAA Colorado announces today the three hotels and one restaurant in Colorado that have earned the Five Diamond Rating during the past 12 months. The AAA/CAA Four and Five Diamond Ratings are AAA’s highest designations for hotels and restaurants.
The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, has maintained the Five Diamond Rating for 38 consecutive years – since 1976 when AAA first introduced the Diamond Ratings for accommodations. It is the only hotel in North America to achieve this accomplishment. The Penrose Room in the Broadmoor remains the only Colorado restaurant to obtain a Five Diamond Rating, which it has held for six years. The Little Nell in Aspen has received a Five Diamond Rating for 22 consecutive years and The Ritz–Carlton, Denver has been a Five Diamond Rated property for 4 consecutive years.
“Attaining the Five Diamond Rating is not an easy undertaking,” said Tony DeNovellis, President of AAA Colorado. “Establishments at this level must consistently provide an unparalleled guest environment and experience.”
Five Diamond candidates undergo multiple unannounced evaluations by a AAA inspector and a final decision by a panel of experts. Inspectors meticulously evaluate guest services and physical attributes, closely examining the level of competence, refinement and hospitality, from reservations to checkout for hotels and from seating to presentation for restaurants. This exclusive group represents just 0.3 percent of the 59,000 AAA Diamond Rated hotels and restaurants nationwide.
Colorado is also home to 35 hotel properties that have reached AAA Four Diamond status. The Mining Exchange in Colorado was added to the Four Diamond list during the past 12 months. Element 47, Aspen, is the newest Four Diamond rated restaurant in Colorado bring the state’s total of restaurants with that rating to 22.
AAA is the only rating system that conducts on-site professional evaluations guided by member priorities. With more properties than any other rating entity, AAA is the only rating system that covers the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. For 78 years AAA has used professional inspectors to conduct in-person property inspections and publish the results, on a system of One to Five Diamonds, to guide member travel decisions.
