A Garden Affaire

The City of Montrose has donated the Jacal Homestead to the Montrose Botanical Society with the intention of preserving this historic archeological treasure. A Jacal (pronounced ha-call) is a hut with a thatched roof and walls made of upright poles or sticks covered and chinked with mud or clay found in the southwestern U.S. and Mexico.

Spend the day exploring the numerous educational exhibits hosted by the Audubon Society and the Colorado Native Plant Society. Enjoy music by Precedence Academy. Admire the talented Plein Air artists vendors displaying garden-inspired crafts and merchandise.  Learn about nature photography and other garden-related topics, and savor iced coffee & tea from Cimarron Coffee Roasters.
