President’s Message: Here for Colorado

Linda Cavanagh

The challenges posed by COVID-19, or the novel coronavirus, have rapidly and dramatically changed every aspect of our daily lives. One important thing has never changed—AAA Colorado’s commitment to keeping you safe.

Across the state, our emergency roadside assistance is considered essential, and we’re proud to be able to do our part to keep Colorado’s roads and highways running smoothly. We’re grateful we are able to do our part by donating free emergency service to healthcare workers and first responders, and it’s been our privilege to serve everybody who has constituted the backbone of Colorado’s response to the crisis. Of course, no matter who you are or what you do, we’re lucky to help you get to where you need to go—whether it’s a trip to a grocery store, to care for a loved one, or your own essential work and activities.

Importantly, our headquarters, call center, and retail store staff have been able to support our roadside and membership operations, while protecting their own communities, with 92 percent now working from home. I have been particularly impressed by how our travel team has risen to the occasion, as our travel agents have been proactively reaching out to those affected travelers, and tirelessly taken care of our members, while working remotely—including extending their hours of availability into nights and weekends, and answering every single question we’ve received. Few industries have been more intimately affected by COVID-19 than the travel industry, and while the outlook has changed for the time being, our commitment to you and the levels of service we’re able to provide haven’t.

This challenge has affected every facet of the economy, and many people have found their insurance needs have changed. Our insurance agents have been helping those members who
have tightened their budgets navigate the complexities of home, auto, and other insurance to make sure they are getting the very best value for their hard-earned dollar—even while working from home.

Finally, we understand the immense amount of news and updates concerning this pandemic can be overwhelming, at times. We hope this edition of EnCompass allows you to escape and travel, virtually, until the world can return to normal. We offer some “staycation ideas” as we stay safe in our homes, exciting destinations for when it’s safe to travel again, and opportunities to save money as you care for your home.

We’re all in this together, Colorado. It’s been an honor to work to keep you safe since 1922. We’ll get through this together by looking out for one another. That’s the AAA Colorado way.
