July 2020 Update: More Kiosk Services Coming Soon! Learn more....

Skip the line at the DMV! AAA Colorado is proud to offer Coloradans -- AAA members and non-members -- living in 24 counties a fast and easy way to renew their vehicle registration and receive new tags on the spot!

You don’t need to take a number or sit and wait – and the average transaction takes less than two minutes. Just pay a visit to our AAA Denver Tech Center Store and tell our friendly staff you’re here to renew your tags. After a successful renewal, a new registration document and license plate decals will print immediately. We’re proud to offer this service to AAA members and non-members living in any of Colorado’s participating counties.

Unlike the DMV, we’re open on Saturdays! And, while you’re here, enjoy everything our retail location has to offer, from expert travel and insurance agents to a wide selection of luggage and travel accessories -- and even an electric car charging station. Visit us in the heart of the Denver Tech Center, near I-25 and Orchard Road.

Who can use the DMV kiosk?
If your car is registered in any of the following counties, you’re able to use AAA’s DMV kiosk: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Chaffee, Clear Creek, Custer, Dolores, Douglas, El Paso, Fremont, Garfield, Gilpin, Grand, Jefferson, Kit Carson, La Plata, Larimer, Mesa, Pueblo, Routt, Teller, Weld, Yuma.

What do I need to complete a renewal?

  • Your vehicle must be registered in a participating county.
  • Your address must be correct on your renewal notice.
  • You must have proof of liability insurance on file (if indicated on your renewal postcard).
  • You must have a valid Vehicle Emission Inspection on file, if applicable.

When can I renew my tags?
There is a three-month window to renew: From the month prior to your expiration month until no later than the last day of the month following the expiration date.

How much does it cost?
In addition to your renewal cost, there is a $3.00 fee for every vehicle renewed at the kiosk. Additionally, there is a 2.15 percent fee to pay via a credit or debit card, and a $0.50 fee to pay by check.

How does the kiosk work?
Simply scan your renewal postcard or type in your license plate number, pay your taxes and fees via credit card or check, and your registration and license plate decal print immediately. Renew. Print. Go!

What types of license plates can be renewed at a kiosk?
If you live in a participating county, you can use a kiosk to renew personal automobiles, pickup trucks, motorcycles, motor homes, utility trailers, and camper trailers. It will NOT renew a collector, commercial fleet, dealer, government or taxi/livery vehicle; tow truck; or any disabled veteran specialty license plates.

What else can the kiosk do?
For now, the kiosk can only process tag renewals. It cannot issue replacement tabs or change the name or address on your motor vehicle registration. Stay tuned for additional service enhancements in the very near future, including driver license renewals, tab replacements, duplicate renewals, and more.

Do I need to bring proof of emissions?
Please wait at least two business days after getting an emissions test to renew at the kiosk. This allows time for the machine to be updated electronically by testing facilities. The kiosk cannot accept paper proof. Your renewal postcard will indicate if you need proof of emissions.

What if I need proof of auto insurance?
Please wait 2-4 days after updating your auto insurance to renew at the kiosk. This allows time for your insurance to provide updated information to our statewide vehicle registration system. The kiosk cannot accept paper proof. Your renewal postcard will indicate if you need proof of insurance.

What happened to the kiosk at your AAA Southglenn location?
Recent regulatory changes have allowed AAA Colorado to provide DMV Kiosk services to Coloradans living in 24 counties, instead of just Arapahoe County residents. As a result, we’ve re-located our Southglenn kiosk to our Denver Tech Center retail location so that we can conveniently serve as many AAA members as possible.  We are currently exploring the expansion of DMV Kiosk services to additional retail locations, so stay tuned!
